Enemies more often number in the dozens, but developer Arrowhead Game Studios’ masterstroke is to make each bug dangerous in its own way. Some have armor covering almost all of their body, some can turn invisible, and all of them want to tear you apart. Every attack also has a chance to injure your limbs, slowing you down or reducing your accuracy if you aren’t able to heal. Missions also have time limits, and traversing each map takes careful planning and quite a bit of running.

Avoid moving around when you're aiming. The tutorial will cover this, explaining how your reticle will move all over the place when you're firing your weapon, and if you want to take down enemies, precision is key.

Blow the doors off! Things can be destroyed in Helldivers 2, and some of the optional objectives will encourage you to blow places to bits. Sometimes when you find points of interest, you'll see crates or doors nearby. Throw a grenade and open them up to find even more loot.

Everything you do is in the name of capitalism or “democracy,” and even the microtransactions have fake reviews “sponsored” by the government of Super Earth. The satire is the funniest kind: ridiculous, loud, and impossible to miss. But plenty of games, from Earth Defense Force

Since Helldivers 2 lets you play with up to four players, many are curious if the game scales combat difficulty up or down depending on how many you have in your squad.

Fun game, but the crashes, disconnects, and server issues every 30 min make it hard to have a fun time. Finding a group to play with is a pain and always says the group is full. Fix a few issues and this game will be top notch

And with friendly fire always on and bad guys far outnumbering my ragtag crew of four, dying at some point or another felt like a certainty. This was especially true when we attempted to complete a level on the hardest difficulty and were utterly grinded to a pulp, which was hilarious and a complete blast even in humbling defeat. I’m really looking forward to seeing if I can actually best one of these levels once my character’s been properly leveled.

Performance vs quality mode on PlayStation 5. Essentially it's a choice between an uneven 30fps at 1728p or a relatively solid 60fps at 1080p, with both seemingly Helldivers 2 Gameplay combining TAA with FSR 1-style upscaling to a 2160p/4K output.

So happy to see this game so well received. Loved the 1st Helldivers and absolutely love this game. Arrowhead is also the exact type of studio I want to support and help thrive. If you haven’t tried this yet at $40 it’s one of the best bang for your buck co-op games out there.

Just to be clear, I’m not a fan of most live-service games. However, the implementation of the live-service model just fits the game so well. It uses a pseudo battle pass system for unlocking different weapons, armor, and emotes, with the added bonus of you choosing which items to get.
